sum1elses Insane album. Had to buy it as soon as I heard it and is honestly a 2023 AOTY contender for me. The lyrics are so simple yet evocative and the music is a vicious scream for change in a unchanging world and contempt for the way everything is and seemingly will be/has been for all of our history. I heard Deathless before this and this just absolutely blows it out of the water.

Emil Francois They do it again, 5 years later. What an album. Stage Whisper builds in such a sick way Favorite track: Stage Whisper.

1.
what are the odds that kings and gods and beasts like us would live forever cast among the stars probably worse than you even thought a ball of gas a hundred trillion miles away from us and from each other wouldn’t it be nice if they knew but how could they
2.
when blinding stars begin to fade and the last echoes of a radio civilization are still gently dissipating into the emptiness outside there will only then be peace which sounds like hell when heaven is still and cold to be forgotten less than dust so how do you wake up tomorrow and go to work anyway
3.
make sure it’s just loud enough to be heard in darkened rooms and cross your fingers that the spotlight catches the tear on your cheek to illuminate your insecurities your affect and your empathy all in the right place so who couldn’t relate to every telegraphed insecurity and empty insight to insinuate that you’re okay that it’s their fault so stay in your shell and say again what you already know and maybe one day they’ll hear your whispers too
4.
Whilom 05:53
through sullen eyes sore and red from weeping he looks back in anger as he leaves again and chokes it down and lashes out to keep away so two hundred years later i can say... … what’s the appeal of the byronic hero defiance on his brow so we can envy the release of dropping out
5.
Rebuke 05:59
it starts with saying no like a child obsessed with your newfound control for hunger strikers for the dirty protests for chains rusted into trees you can start any time and cry out and break your life apart to let a little light in and start getting used to it
6.
whether i like it or not everything outside is decoration and though i can understand the value of another all the great collective tragedies or what we make of history is a series of friezes no souls in the figures scenery in the distance even if painted with blood so, a thousand people turn to red paint in your pocket, all the time going by like garbage in the river see them go it’s all exhausting
